BTEC Higher National Certificate (HNC) and Diploma (HND) in Travel and Tourism Management

These courses are ideal for either learner who seeks to embark new career or who wishes to progress their knowledge to a degree.

The Qualifications Curriculum Authority (QCA) informs that the National Qualification Framework (NQF) sets out the levels at which qualifications are recognised nationally. The academic level of BTEC HNC and HND are designed as Intermediate level of the Framework for Higher Education Qualifications (FHEQ) currently NQF level 4, which has been revised as NQF Level 5 (effective from 2006). This is considered as the equivalent qualification of foundation degree.

BTEC HNC and HND offer a strong emphasis on practical skills development alongside the development of requisite knowledge and understanding in travel and tourism industry.
The qualifications provide a thorough grounding in the key concepts and practical skills required in the travel and tourism sector and their national recognition by employers allows progression direct into employment. These are also key progression paths to the second or third year of a degree or honours degree programme, depending on the match of the BTEC HNC/HND units to the degree programme in question.

The 10 unit HNC in Travel and Tourism Management courses are programmed both part-time 2-year course and 15 month full-time course. It provides a specialist work-related programme of study that covers the key knowledge, understand ing and practical skills required in the travel and tourism sector and also offers particular specialist emphasis through the choice of specialist units. The 16-unit BTEC HND is full-time, 2-year programme. It provides greater breadth and specialisation than the HNC. Both courses are nationally recognised qualifications offering career progression and professional development for those already in employment and opportunities to progress into higher education.
